Purpose The primary purpose of the Carolina Brigade is to provide mutual support for and dissemination of information among Continental reenactment organizations in North and South Carolina. At most reenactments, individual units are consolidated into field companies which are then organized into battalions. The creation of the Carolina Brigade is a recognition and endorsement of this process. The Carolina Brigade seeks to provide a permanent structure that eliminates the necessity of establishing a field organization for the Carolina troops at each event. The Carolina Brigade feels that a permanent organization provides continuity, efficiency, and historical accuracy for both re-enactors and spectators. At reenactments the Carolina Brigade will facilitate the implementation of the host's scenarios even though the scenarios may necessitate a temporary restructuring of the Brigade. To this end the Carolina Brigade will accommodate host unit requests which do not have a negative impact on safety regulations or applicable historical accuracy. The Carolina Brigade will participate in negotiations to amicably resolve any conflicts with regard to these issues.
Mission Statement The Carolina Brigade will encourage cooperation among all elements of the American Revolutionary War reenacting community in both Continental and British impressions. The Carolina Brigade is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of the reenactment community. The Brigade will aid its membership and the public in gaining a more complete and objective understanding of the life and times of the men and women, both civilian and military, who served in the Carolina line during the Revolutionary War. The Carolina Brigade is dedicated to preserving the Carolina Line and honoring our ancestors. We will commemorate the service of those who fought bravely, endured terrible hardships, and ultimately achieved victory that led to the creation of the United States. The Carolina Brigade will always seek to improve its portrayal of the Carolina soldier and civilian through research and the study of literature and artifacts. The Brigade will continue to present an accurate, educational and enjoyable experience for Revolutionary War participants and spectators alike.
Organization The Brigade will consist of a Brigade staff, to be chosen prior to an event, and will embody at least one company, to total at least 50 registered, including support of artillery and cavalry. These combatants will include officers, non-commissioned officers, rank and file, artillery crews and cavalry.
